August 13, 2017 – Brooklyn, Michigan, USA: Kyle Larson (42) wins the Pure Michigan 400 at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Michigan.

Kyle Larson and Chip Ganassi Racing saw their third consecutive win at Michigan this past weekend at the Pure Michigan 400 in the NASCAR Monster Energy Cup.

After Larson’s public campaign to team owner Chip Ganassi to allow him to race in the World of Outlaws Knoxville Nationals in Iowa the night before (where Kyle earned 2nd place) he agreed—but only if Kyle would come back and win in Michigan the next day.
Kyle made good on that promise by making what USA Today called an “incredible and risky move” on the final restart, squeezing through an opening and shooting out front “like a slingshot.” The No. 42 team was heard on the radio encouraging him not to celebrate just yet. but he went ahead and brought the race home. Just a combination of good driving, guts, a great team, and a little luck.

This is his third Monster Cup win and sixth total win of the 2017 season. Go Kyle!
