Yoshihara Finishes Second at 2021 Global Time Attack Finals

With his last Formula DRIFT competition and the SEMA Show in the rearview mirror, ENEOS ambassador Dai Yoshihara still had a lot on his plate before the 2021 racing season comes to a close. Shortly after leaving Las Vegas, he joined Evasive Motorsports for the Global Time Attack finals on November 11-13, 2021 at Buttonwillow Raceway Park.

This event would be a chance for redemption for both the driver and team after mechanical issues got the better of the EVSv4 S2K during shakedown testing at the Long Beach round of GTA.

With three solid days of competition, Evasive took the necessary steps to have the Honda S2000 dialed in as perfectly as possible. While the weather was beautiful and sunny for Friday’s practice, both Saturday and Sunday had heavy fog during most of the morning, delaying valuable track time. Dai made sure to conserve and push the car as needed, and Evasive felt confident the car would be competitive throughout the weekend.

By the end of the event, even after recurring drivetrain issues from Long Beach, Dai completed a successful outing and secured second place in the Unlimited class with a 1:46.240 lap time.

The team was happy because the engine ran smoothly all weekend, while the suspension and aero performed amazingly. Mechanically, Mike Chang from Evasive said, “This is the best ready-to-race package you can give an S2K. It showed great potential and balance, so we’ll continue developing it for the 2022 time attack season. Also, the engine was flawless, even running at very high RPM for extended periods, thanks to the ENEOS Racing Series oil we use.”
