Tough 2026 MotoGP Italy Race for Team ENEOS

Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP were looking forward to a successful result at their home race, the Brembo Grand Prix of Italy, but things didn’t go their way during the physically demanding 23-lap event. Fabio Quartararo finished P18 while Alex Rins was riding in P15 when a crash in Turn 1 on lap 11 ended his quest for Championship points.

Starting from P17 on the grid, El Diablo held the position following several battles during the opening stages, and as teammate Rins crashed ahead of him, he temporarily moved into the points. Quartararo overtook but was then overtaken himself, keeping him in P15. A late battle with rivals during the remaining four laps forced the Frenchman to take the checkered flag in P18, 34.335sec from first.

“It was a really difficult race in general,” Quatararo said. “I was able to push in the first laps but lost the feeling in some corners. I had to slow down to avoid crashing and reduce the risks I took.”

Rins started from P12 and climbed two spots in the opening laps but lost ground and fell back to P14. A battle later pushed him down a position, then a crash ended his race prematurely.

“I lost the front, and after analyzing what happened, it’s still difficult to understand how the crash happened since it didn’t feel like I did anything different from the previous laps,” Rins explained. “I’m disappointed to finish the race like this.”
