Team ENEOS Showdown at 2025 Formula DRIFT Long Beach 2 Finals
It was a nailbiting conclusion to the 2025 Formula DRIFT PRO Championship season as Team ENEOS approached the final round at an all-new track layout on familiar pavement. Following the sale and subsequent demolition of Irwindale Speedway, the series needed a new venue to host its 2025 Final Round. After considering many options, FD worked closely with the City of Long Beach to construct a purpose-built track using part of Shoreline Drive and the Long Beach Convention Center.
The new Long Beach 2 layout represented another milestone for the series, which has traditionally used a section of the Grand Prix of Long Beach track for its opening round. And while the GPLB street course will continue to host the opening round of the season, the new configuration for Final Round 8: Shoreline Showdown provides a highly technical challenge for the season finale, with seven Outside Zones to master.
Since James Deane already claimed the Championship title early in Utah, the battle for the remaining places remained tight but Long Beach 2 wasn’t kind to the main protagonists, including our Team ENEOS drivers Odi Bakchis and Fredric Aasbo.
Odi, who was placed P7 coming into this round, was knocked out early by Tommy Lemaire during the Top 32 and ultimately finished eighth in the overall standings. He said, “I enjoyed the new course layout and the ENEOS-protected Feal Suspension / GT Radial Nissan S14.9 was absolutely rippin’. I pushed hard but luck wasn’t on my side this time.”
Since James Deane already claimed the Championship title early in Utah, the battle for the remaining places remained tight but Long Beach 2 wasn’t kind to the main protagonists, including our Team ENEOS drivers Odi Bakchis and Fredric Aasbo.
Aasbo had a bigger challenge to face coming into LB2, fighting against a few other drivers closely matched in points to see who’d clench P2. But the driver of the Rockstar Energy Toyota GR Supra wouldn’t get much further than the Great 8 after losing to Hiroya Minowa, and ultimately wound up P3 in the overall standings for the 2025 season.
“It’s been a crazy but a great year for Team ENEOS, and it’s nice to hold one of these big trophies when it’s all said and done,” Aasbo said. “Third place overall, we had a great start but were able to reel it back in and we’re ready to hit it harder in 2026!”
ENEOS appreciates the efforts that Aasbo/Papadakis Racing and Bakchis/Feal Race Team put forth into the 2025 FD season and look forward to further success next year!
