Team ENEOS Final Race with Inline-Four Engine at 2025 MotoGP Valencia
It was an emotional season finale for Team ENEOS at the Grand Prix of the Valencian Community, the last dance for Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP and the inline-four engine. Alex Rins and Fabio Quartararo intended to say goodbye in the best possible way but the 27-lap Race proved to be challenging. Rins rallied to finish P14 while a crash ended Quartararo’s quest to finish the season strong.
Rins started P19 on the grid and maintained his position battling a busy mid-pack in the opening lap. By lap 7 he moved up to P16 with a sizable gap between himself and the riders in front and behind. The second half of the race was relatively calm, the only threat being Johann Zarco, who passed him on lap 22. But with three riders unable to complete the race, Rins crossed the finish line in P14, 23.255sec from first.
“This wasn’t the way we wanted to end the season,” said Rins. “It was demanding and difficult to manage due to rear tire degradation, but throughout this season we learned a lot and made improvements. Now it’s time to start a new chapter with the V4.”
While El Diablo launched P6 off the grid, he ended the first lap in P11. He lost another spot on the next lap, and while Joan Mir completed a long-lap penalty two laps later, Quartararo found himself back in P11. On lap 24, he unfortunately crashed out going into Turn 8, ending the season on a sour note with a NC.
“The first four corners were a nightmare because of a clutch issue,” Quartararo explained. “I lost many positions and my pace wasn’t great, so I pushed more at the end with a used tire. I struggled to overtake and tried to be as close as possible, but I still crashed. It was a race to forget.”
Following the Valencia GP, Quartararo finished the 2025 season P9 overall with 201 points while Rins finished P19 with 68 points. Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP was sixth in the team championship with 269 points, and Yamaha finished fifth in the manufacturer championship with 247 points.
