Rins Earns P7 at 2025 MotoGP Australia

Team ENEOS battled brilliantly at Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit for the 2025 Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix as Álex Rins charged from P11 to P7 in the later stages of the 27-lap contest. Teammate Fabio Quartararo was in contention for a podium finish but struggled to defend his position and finished P11.

Starting from P11, Rins completed the opening lap in P12 but was back to 11th when Jack Miller crashed on lap 5. On lap 14, Enea Bastianini overtook him, then Rins overtook teammate Quartararo on lap 15, putting him back into P11 where he began to close the gap to the top 10. With eight laps remaining, Rins launched a successful attack against Pol Espargó to move up to P10 and began to increase his pace for a late charge. He overtook several riders with five laps remaining to move up to P7 but with a 3sec gap to the next rider ahead, he focused on pushing to the checkered flag on the final three laps. Rins managed to close the gap by one second to finish P7, 10.671sec from first.

What an amazing feeling to finish this great,” Rins said. “I did many overtakes, and while there were small issues at the start, I rode the limit to finish with a P7 result.

Quartararo started from pole position but soon slotted into P4, and with a significant 1.5sec gap to the top three, he found himself in P3 on lap 7 when Marco Bezzecchi had to complete two long-lap penalties. With only a second gap from the top two riders, El Diablo was pushed down to P12 as riders behind him began to overtake him one by one. Francesco Bagnaia passed him briefly with five laps to go, but Quartararo moved back to P12 when the Italian crashed a lap later, and Fermin Aldeguer dropped down the order in the final stages to allow the Frenchman to finish P11, 16.965sec from the winner.

I didn’t expect this kind of result because my pace was good,” Quartararo said. “Really strange that I didn’t have the pace on any lap of the Race.
