Quartararo With Spectacular P2 Finish at 2025 MotoGP Spain
Team ENEOS is back on the MotoGP podium for the first time since 2023 thanks to a masterclass by Fabio Quartararo at the 2025 Gran Premio de España, a 25-lap race held at Circuito de Jerez – Ángel Nieto. Quartararo started from pole position and withstood pressure from multiple rivals to secure a P2 finish. Teammate Álex Rins started from last on the grid but fought his way to finish P13 at the finish line.

After launching from pole, Quartararo held the lead going into the first corner and pulled away slightly on the first lap from his immediate rivals. Alex Marquez crept up and hung tight to the Frenchman, who held the lead for 10 laps, then overtook Quartararo on lap 11. El Diablo was unable to stay on him and soon shifted his attention to keeping Francesco Bagnaia at bay, holding his position to the very end of the race to finish P2, 1.561sec from the winner.

“To be on the podium is always something super special,” Quartararo said. “This Race had moments we live for, especially making pole position. Fighting at the front is a great feeling, and leading a race is something I love. The gap to the winner wasn’t big, Marquez simply had a bit more this time.”
Rins started from the bottom of the pack but was able to move up a position on the first lap. He moved up to P17 after overtaking Aleix Espargaró on lap 7, then spent seven laps in P16, eager to overtake another ride for a chance at a championship point. With 11 laps remaining, other riders either retired or crashed out, allowing the Spaniard to shift up to P13, where he then hunted Raul Fernandez down until he overtook him on lap 16 to take P12. Rins tried to hold it until the end but was passed by Marc Marquez in the final sector, finishing ultimately in P13, 21.120sec from first, scoring crucial points for the championship.
“This was a tough Race to manage physically but I was able to finish it,” Rins explained. “We changed the bike setup and I was able to do some overtakes, so overall a very positive event.”
