Quartararo Takes Top 10 Finish at 2025 MotoGP Netherlands

Chaos during the opening stages of the 2025 MotoGP Grand Prix of the Netherlands disrupted Team ENEOS riders Fabio Quartararo and Álex Rins but they focused and pushed to make up lost ground to finish the Race in 10th and 13th place respectively.

Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP sported a special livery to celebrate Yamaha’s 70th anniversary, representing its proud racing heritage in the premier class.

Starting from pole position, El Diablo had a rough opening and gradually dropped down to P7 during the first two laps. Unable to stick with the front group, Quartararo came under pressure from charging riders and was passed by Maverick Viñales on lap 5. An evasive maneuver to avoid a collision with Fermin Aldeguer who crashed in front of him cost the Frenchman more positions, and he rejoined the action in P13. He overtook Johann Zarco on lap 13, then closed the gap to the three riders fighting for ninth, overtaking Jack Miller and Brad Binder before finishing the Race in P10, 23.743sec from first.

The first laps were difficult since we had zero grip,” Quartararo explained. “I went into the grass avoiding Fermin’s crash, which cost us some time. Then I was behind other riders and it was tricky to overtake. I could’ve gone much faster if I wasn’t so far back.

Rins started from P18 but lost positioning on the first lap but was able to climb up to P14 following incidents involving other rivals. The Spaniard focused on his race pace and set personal best laps in the midway stage, overtaking Miller and Zarco with three laps remaining. He tried overtaking Binder but lost a position right before the finish line, crossing the finish line P13, 24.882sec from the winner.

This race was tough because we couldn’t do more,” Rins said. “I tried recovering positions and fought to overtake, but regardless this would’ve been difficult without the opening lap incident.

Following the Assen GP, Quartararo is in 11th in the overall standings with 67 points; Rins is 17th with 35 points. Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP is joint seventh in the team championship with 102 points, and Yamaha is fifth in the manufacturer championship with 98 points.
