Team ENEOS and Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP were determined to show the home crowd their fighting spirit at the 2025 Grand Prix of Japan. Fabio Quartararo managed his chasing rivals again to finish P8 while teammate Álex Rins ended the 24-lap race in P18.
Starting from P5 on the grid, El Diablo completed the first lap in fourth place but then fell back to P9 after losing grip. However the Frenchman managed his gap well, preventing others from overtaking and moved up to eighth after Pedro Acosta ran wide on lap 19, holding the position to the finish line, crossing it 21.160sec from first.
“I gave my maximum at the beginning and made a great start, but our grip wasn’t great, so it was difficult to fight against others,” Quartararo said.
Rins started P17 and made strides to climb up to P14 on lap 3, holding the position until lap 7 when Enea Bastianini and Jack Miller overtook him. The Spaniard held tight to Miller until Takaaki Nakagami overtook him on lap 16. Rins tried to fight but fell back to P19, but ultimately finished the race in P18, 34.792sec from the winner.
“The first part of the race felt good,” Rins said. “I had a massive stoppie at one point, which caused me to go wide and lose positions, so I tried to manage the tire drop but I couldn’t do more than what I did.”
