Kraus Lands Third Career Top 10 Finish in Kansas

The young ENEOS-sponsored rookie driver of the McAnally-Hilgemann Racing #19 Toyota Tundra, Derek Kraus, made the most of his third career start at Kansas Speedway in the 2020 NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series, scoring a ninth-place finish, his third top ten performance at the 1.5-mile oval track.

Starting from 12th on the grid, Kraus avoided spinning in the closing laps, setting up a green-white-checkered finish. He was able to charge to ninth at the finish of the Clean Harbors 200.

He’d been in 20th position at the conclusion of the first stage on Lap 30, restarting 17th after pit stops and the “choose” rule. Avoiding a multi-truck crash in front of him exiting Turn 4, he advanced to 13th by Lap 38, then battled outside the top ten when the the second stage ended.

A solid green-flag pit stop on Lap 105 saw Kraus cycle through in 11th before a late-race caution. The final restart then enabled him to score his 11th top ten finish of 2020.

“It was a pretty good ENEOS Tundra towards the end of the race,” said Kraus. “I felt like we had a top ten truck and we were able to end up ninth, which was really good.”

Kraus is currently 11th in the overall standings with three top five and 11 top ten finishes in 20 starts this season.
