Formula DRIFT Announces 2021 Schedule

Despite the many challenges caused by COVID-19, Formula DRIFT still delivered a successful 2020 competition series, and for 2021, they’re pleased to announce a return to a full schedule, which kicks off on May 7-8 at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, coincidentally the venue for the very first FD event back in May 2004.

Dates for the Formula DRIFT PRO and Link ECU PROSPEC Championships may be subject to change, given the unpredictable nature of the global pandemic, however, the series organizers are proceeding with confidence and optimism. PROSPEC replaces the PRO2 series, with qualifying and competition taking place on the same days as the senior PRO category, allowing for phased Technical and Sporting regulations updates over the next few seasons as part of the series’ evolution.

The traditional Streets of Long Beach season opener has been rescheduled to September, taking place the weekend before the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach. Formula DRIFT worked closely with the Grand Prix Association of Long Beach to retain their “home” event, securing a new date once the Grand Prix Association announced its own date change.

2021 takes FD back to six familiar tracks but introduces two new ones into the mix, including the brand-new, purpose-built drift arena at Englishtown Raceway in New Jersey and Lake Erie Speedway, located near the Great Lakes city of Erie, PA, providing drift action to the Midwest and Toronto for Round 4.

ENEOS ambassador Dai Yoshihara will return to the series to contest the PRO Championship title, and fans can watch him compete online free of charge via the Formula DRIFT livestream, accessible on www.formulad.comhttp://www.formulad.com as well as FD’s social media and YouTube channels.
