ENEOS Returns to the 2021 SEMA Show

After two years away from Sin City, the SEMA Show returned to Las Vegas, injecting life back into the automotive aftermarket industry. For ENEOS, it was a chance to inform enthusiasts and customers about our latest technologies, while also showcasing an incredible BMW project car built by ENEOS ambassador, Faruk Kugay.

With a reimagined booth featuring a distinctive ENEOS road map aimed at highlighting our core strengths, areas were dedicated to our crucial OEM relationships, our new EV Fluid line, as well as Performance and Transmission stations. It was an excellent way to explain ENEOS expertise in synthetic oil formulation and show that we create some of the thinnest, most efficient lubricants for the latest gas and hybrid engines, as well as their transmissions and differentials.

“You Put a HONDA Engine in THAT?!”

That’s absolutely correct — we challenged Faruk Kugay to put a JDM twist on a European classic, and his E30 BMW with a Honda F20C S2000 powerplant created tremendous buzz among both the Japanese and Euro enthusiasts!

The purpose of the swap was to give the E30 a more powerful, yet lightweight engine that compares favorably to the E30 M3’s 2.3L 16v engine, and this VTEC engine produces 240hp without any forced induction. Another goal was to make it California smog-legal: keeping the entire conversion CARB-legal while significantly increasing horsepower over the stock 1.8L four-cylinder engine originally fitted by BMW. And it does so without emissions problems.

Naturally, the F20C is lubricated with ENEOS Racing Street 0W-50 motor oil to provide the optimum combination of wear protection and performance.

Look out for a more in-depth feature on Faruk’s E30 soon.

Welcome Aboard, Fredric Aasbo!

ENEOS has been a sponsoring partner of Formula DRIFT and competing teams for many years, supporting 2011 FD Champion Dai Yoshihara in the PRO Championship, and Rich Whiteman in the PROSPEC class. However, after competing at the highest level for more than 18 years, Dai is retiring from the series to focus on other motorsports activities.

While we’re extremely sad to see Dai leave Formula DRIFT, ENEOS is planning to continue supporting Dai as he embarks on new projects. And we can exclusively announce that ENEOS will partner with the newly crowned Formula DRIFT Champion, Fredric Aasbo and Papadakis Racing for the 2022 season.

This is extremely exciting for ENEOS because we work closely with Toyota at the engineering and development level, and our synthetic lubricants will be the perfect addition to Fredric’s 1000hp Rockstar Energy Toyota GR Supra. We look forward to Fredric’s defense of his Championship title throughout the 2022 season of the Formula DRIFT PRO series.

ENEOS Around the SEMA Show

Aside from the ENEOS booth, we had three other vehicles showcasing ENEOS: Dai Yoshihara’s Mercedes 190E at the Pit and Paddock display, the Tjin Edition Honda Acty and a 2021 Toyota Sienna Hybrid built by Rodney Esteban.

ENEOS ambassador Dai Yoshihara is still really busy after retiring from Formula DRIFT competition, bringing his Honda-powered Mercedes Benz 190E out for display at the Pit and Paddock booth, situated front and center as you walk through the main doors of the LVCC. We should see Dai putting this build into action really soon!

The JDM theme continued with the very unusual Honda Acty Kei truck built by Neil Tjin from Tjin Edition. Imported from Japan, it’s been put into service as a stylish delivery vehicle carrying ENEOS oil products and a custom SUPER73-ZX e-bike, which was customized to match the truck.

Rodney Esteban, who is well known in the Toyota Hybrid forum community, debuted his 2021 Sienna van on airbag suspension, RAYS wheels, and of course, utilized ENEOS lubricants. You don’t often see family transport looking this crazy, so it’s only fitting that it should be found at the SEMA Show!

We’ll feature Faruk’s E30 BMW, the Tjin Edition Acty and Rodney’s Sienna in the near future!
