ENEOS Joins The Chronicles and Exceed Japan for 2026 Tokyo Car Week
Trips to the motherland don’t come around often but 2026 sounded like the right time to try something different: by attending Tokyo Auto Salon, which has transformed into something different in recent years, now more commonly referred to as Tokyo Car Week thanks to a handful of well-known names in the Japanese industry hosting their own pop-up events around the greater Tokyo metropolitan area.
We united with former Super Street Magazine editors Jonathan Wong and Sam Du, who came up with ideas to help ENEOS get involved with the international car community in a very new, exciting and fun way. It became a two-part project that took us from Tokyo to Osaka: the first being a Honda pop-up exhibition, followed by a visit to a very popular influencer for a crossover that nobody saw coming.
To kick things off, ENEOS sponsored a four-day pop-up event hosted by Joey Lee, mastermind behind The Chronicles, a popular JDM blogger/YouTuber, and his friend, Yasutaka Shimomukai of Exceed Japan, where they debuted their new Honda Civic EG and EK projects at calif art gallery in Nakameguro.
Joey’s Dakar Yellow EG6 is a follow-up to his Mintia-themed blue EK, powered with a built Honda Civic Type R EK9 B16B motor fitted with ITBs, lowered on bronze Mugen MF10s that were sourced new in Japan, and loads of Exceed body pieces.
Yasu’s EK4 is also painted Dakar Yellow, powered with a built B18C, lowered on classic white Volk Racing TE37 wheels, and is ultra lightweight with carbon doors/roof, fiberglass fenders and rear hatch, plus Exceed Japan aero parts.
People came from all corners of the world to see these vehicles, and get their hands on limited edition merch made specially to celebrate the event, including hoodies, tees, a tote bag, and a special Leen Customs pin.
Stay tuned for part two of our Tokyo Car Week adventures, where we traveled to Osaka to do something totally unexpected!
