Bakchis Finishes Top 16 at 2025 Formula DRIFT Utah

Team ENEOS was eager to move past a disappointing Seattle round in favor of more positive results at Round 7 of the 2025 Formula DRIFT PRO Championship, but it was equally difficult for Fredric Aasbo and Odi Bakchis. Aasbo was outgunned early on in the Top 32, which stopped him from collecting enough points to stay in Championship contention. Meanwhile, Bakchis could only advance to the Top 16 before being stopped in his tracks.

Aasbo hit Utah with aspirations of applying pressure in the championship pursuit; however, he encountered difficulties in the Top 32 following an intense match against Nick Noback in his Rockstar Energy Toyota GR Supra. Additionally, his main rival, James Deane, won the event, accumulating enough points to not only seize the lead but also secure his fifth Formula DRIFT Championship—a new series record. Despite this setback, the Norwegian Hammer remains well-positioned for a strong overall finish in the Championship and is highly motivated to end the season strong in Long Beach.

We wanted more in Utah, but this team never gives up,” Aasbo said. “The finale is practically in our backyard, and we’re going to bring everything we’ve got for the fans and for Team ENEOS.

Like the Seattle round, Bakchis fought to qualify in the Seeding Bracket with the Feal Suspension / GT Radial S14.9, facing his former Feal teammate Simen Olsen in the Seeding Final, which Olsen won after Odi misjudged his entry into OZ4. His second place finish earned him some much needed Championship points and P22 starting position against Tommy Lemaire in the Top 32, advancing to face Hiroya Minowa in the Top 16 where he was then defeated.

Following the Utah round, Aasbo dips to fourth in the Championship standings with 180 points, while Bakchis drops to seventh with 128 points.
