Aasbo Back on the Podium for Team ENEOS at 2026 Formula DRIFT Orlando

Team ENEOS was itching to get back into winning form in Orlando following a challenging Atlanta round that saw Fredric Aasbo depart uncharacteristically early, immediately showing podium potential despite a mostly wet qualifying session.

The Zones were designed for the drivers in an effort to raise the average scores, but inclement weather arrived before qualifying began and continued to wreak havoc throughout the session, dictating whether drivers had a wet, damp or dry track. Aasbo’s prowess in slick conditions overcame the conditions, threading the needle through the point-scoring Zones to qualify third with an 84.7-point run, carrying that momentum into the competition heats.

Aasbo opened eliminations with a Top 32 win over Rudy Hansen, then advanced past Trenton Beechum in the Top 16. In the Great 8, he defeated Dylan Hughes to secure a place in the Final Four. The Rockstar Energy Toyota GR Supra driver was on a point-scoring mission and fought hard to reach the Final but during the semifinals, a small mistake by the Norwegian Hammer as he transitioned from Zones 2 to 3 allowed James Deane to pull ahead and take the win. Aasbo would end the night in third place while Deane finished second behind the winner Odi Bakchis.

“It was important to come back strong for Team ENEOS after Atlanta,” said Aasbo. “The Supra felt good all weekend and the team gave me a car that could fight for the win. We wanted more, of course, but getting back on the podium keeps us right in the conversation as the Championship starts to tighten up.”

The result gives Aasbo two podium finishes in the opening three rounds of the 2026 Formula Drift season. He finished runner-up at the season opener in Long Beach, then recovered from his Road Atlanta setback with a third-place finish in Orlando. Aasbo leaves Florida fourth in the provisional driver standings with 74 points.
