ENEOS – Japan’s largest oil company, supplier of motor oil and transmission fluids to the majority of Asian vehicle manufacturers, and producer of specialized fluids for Electric Vehicles – will be located in booth # 23819 in Central Hall at the annual SEMA Show in Las Vegas.

The booth will highlight many of the company’s activities and enable ENEOS product specialists to interact with automotive enthusiasts and customers. Display vehicles will capture the spirit of the brand and showcase many ENEOS products, including its Racing Series Motor Oils, EV Fluid Line, transmission fluids, and more.

The newest ENEOS X Prime 0W-8 ultra-low viscosity oil will be featured in the booth, highlighting the company’s deep relationship with many of Asia’s car makers, which requested the special formulation to meet stringent emissions and economy standards. Not only will X Prime 0W-8 oil be supplied to manufacturers for factory fill requirements, it will also be available for oil changes by dealer networks and for DIY maintenance.

ENEOS X Prime 0W-8 is 100% synthetic oil developed in partnership with Asian automakers for use in the latest Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEV) and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV) where 0W-8 is specified. This currently includes vehicles from Honda, Toyota, Nissan and Mitsubishi. The oil is also suitable for Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) fitted with thermal gasoline engines used as a Range Extender.

ENEOS market-tested X PRime 0W-8 in Japan for nine years and the optimized formula provided extreme fuel efficiency with maximum engine protection, while meeting the required domestic standards.

ENEOS PORSCHE 911 GT3 STI

At the 2021 SEMA show, ENEOS unveiled an incredible E30 BMW with an F20C Honda 2.0L engine swap. The high-revving, lightweight powerplant was the perfect upgrade for the 40 year-old car, creating an intriguing track weapon for builder and professional drift racer, Faruk Kugay from DevSpeed Motorsports.

This year, Faruk will debut his latest creation: a 2007 997.1 Porsche 911 GT3. It was bought at auction as a rolling shell after it was crashed and stripped by a previous owner. With no engine and a reputation for fascinating swaps, Faruk chose a 2008 Subaru Impreza STI EJ25 engine to keep the “boxer” configuration, uniting two companies with incredible racing heritage both on tarmac and in the forests.

The goal was to create a track weapon. The EJ25 is 170 lb lighter than the original GT3 powerplant and can be modified to exceed the 911’s stock 415hp output. To that end, the ENEOS-lubricated STI engine was upgraded with a BorgWarner EFR 7064-C turbo and a massive Vibrant Vertical Flow intercooler. It was fitted with Deatschwerks fuel injectors, rails and pumps, which draw from a Nuke Performance fuel cell and fuel system. By adding a custom exhaust system, Faruk was aiming for 550hp, which will be transmitted to the rear wheels through the Impreza’s six-speed transmission with a reverse-cut ring gear and bellhousing from Subarugears in Australia, assembled by SubiWorks in Murrieta, CA.

With the GT3’s competition future, DevSpeed sourced GT3R racecar bodywork from VAD Design in Great Britain. Not only does it revive one of Porsche’s muscular competition cars but the expansive fenders accommodate huge 19×10” front and 19×13” Rotiform 917 wheels, which themselves are fashioned after a legendary Porsche design.

Putting the power to the pavement, the ENEOS GT3 was equipped with extremely sticky Toyo Proxes R888R tires measuring 265/35 R19 front and huge 345/30 R19 rear. These DOT-approved competition tires are designed to give the driver full control in extreme driving situations including road racing and track days.

BC Racing adjustable coilovers keep the rubber on the road, while the bodyshell has been stiffened with a CNC-bent rollcage from CageKits. It was built remotely after the interior was 3D scanned by Illumasthetic and the precise dimensions sent to CageKits. Machine-bent tubes were shipped to DevSpeed for Marcus Fry to weld the incredibly close-fitting cage.

Another motorsports addition is the Nuke Performance Air Jack 90 Competition system, which will allow the car to be quickly raised for wheel changes. The Nuke air jacks operate at 130psi, so can utilize a basic compressor rather than typical air jacks that require 400psi.

The DevSpeed / ENEOS Porsche 911 GT3 STI was finished in a unique livery inspired by both the classic Salzburg Porsche 917 and Subaru’s distinctive World Rally Championship cars. Created by Sean Smith Design, the livery was applied by Landmark Grafix.

NISSAN FRONTIER RACE TRUCK

R/T TUNING has built the ultimate off-road Frontier for Dai Yoshihara. And now the ENEOS ambassador and Formula DRIFT Champion will be adding the Dai Yoshihara / Turn 14 Distribution / ENEOS / MBRP VR30DDTT 2006 Nissan Frontier Pre-Runner to his fleet of cars.

Vince Hafner, owner of R/T Tuning in Philadelphia, PA, is no stranger to building high-powered street and competition cars for a variety of motorsports. He was approached by Turn 14 Distribution after they discovered he was building a unique “NISMO-spec” Nissan Frontier fitted with the VR30DDTT motor from the newest generation Nissan Z (RZ34). The aim was to make it appear that it left the assembly line that way.

Originally 400hp, the Z engine now generates 600hp and 650 lb-ft after being rebuilt with JE pistons, Manley Turbo Tuff rods, an R/T Tuning V2 turbo kit, MBRP Armor Pro exhaust, and AMS Performance downpipes. It also has custom ECUTEK RaceRom ECU calibration to ensure proper fueling.

The high-performance VR30DDTT was lubricated with ENEOS 5W-40 motor oil to provide the optimum combination of wear and performance. Additionally, ENEOS Import Series ATF was used in the transmission, while ENEOS Gear Oil LSD GL-5 75W-90 was utilized for the Frontier’s custom rear-end.

Once the motor was dialed-in, the Frontier was shipped to Eimer Engineering. Chris Eimer worked with Dai as his Formula DRIFT crew chief and his expertise in creating race-winning suspension played an important role. Designed by CJD Racing, the pre-runner uses Bilstein M 9200 coilovers, Eibach springs, a CJD long-travel kit and custom 9” locker axle assembly. Yokohama Geolandar M/T tires were mounted to Weld Racing Cinch beadlock wheels. Braking was upgraded with Nissan Titan front calipers, DBA rotors and Power Stop pads.

The distinctive livery was designed by renowned illustrator Jon Sibal to incorporate the FiberWerx Nissan Titan carbon fiber front-end conversion complete with AnzoUSA lights and KC HiLites accessory lighting.

Inside, Dai has Sparco racing seats and harnesses for safety and weight reduction, plus a Sparco steering wheel with a quick-release for motorsport functionality.

“Dai’s going to have a lot of fun in the Frontier,” Hafner told us. “It’s designed to let him do what he does best; go sideways in the dirt or on asphalt! The Frontier evolved much further than the ”NISMO” version I envisioned. You can’t tell by looking at it, but it’s hardcore. And knowing Dai was involved, I had to step it up.”

“Ever since attending my first King of the Hammers event, I’ve wanted to get behind the wheel of a capable off-roader,” Yoshihara said. “So, when we heard about the Z-swapped Frontier, we couldn’t resist. And with Eimer’s suspension expertise, we had the perfect team to build this awesome vehicle for the 2022 SEMA Show. Nobody will expect this from me but SEMA isn’t the goal; it’s only the beginning. I’m excited to see where I can go in off-road racing and hopefully fans will be, too!”

TESLA MODEL 3 PIKES PEAK

Working closely with Asia’s car manufacturers, the development team at ENEOS was aware that many of them were exploring hybrid and electric powertrains, and so they began researching lubrication and cooling solutions. The recently announced ENEOS X Prime 0W-8 oil is one such development that is now available to consumers. And the new ENEOS EV Fluid Line, which was announced at SEMA 2021, is another product designed to help increase the efficiency and durability of current and future electric vehicle components.

The ENEOS EV Fluid Line was put to the ultimate test at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (PPIHC). It was used in the Turn 14 Distribution / Toyo Tires / ENEOS / Evasive Motorsports Tesla Model 3 Pikes Peak race car, driven by Formula DRIFT champion, Dai Yoshihara, and prepared by Evasive Motorsports.

After a technical hiccup at the first attempt in 2021, the team set the fastest time for an electric vehicle at this year’s rain-soaked event, beating both the competition and the elements.

Attendees as the 2022 SEMA Show can see the ENEOS-sponsored Tesla Model 3 Pikes Peak race car in the SEMA Electrified area of North Hall. It will be on display along with examples of the ENEOS EV Fluid Line, which will soon be available for maintenance of existing electric vehicles, helping to restore and improve vehicle efficiency.

DATSUN 521 PICKUP

Built to encapsulate old school passion and new school flare, the Datsun is the work of DSPORT Magazine Sales & Marketing Manager Rakesh Patel with his son, Milen. Capturing the history and spirit of ENEOS – the Original JDM Motor Oil – the project began five years ago as Milen was starting high school and Rakesh thought it would be the perfect vehicle for his son to drive during his senior year.

Having collected restoration parts from around the world for the project including rare Mikuni side-draft carburetors, Rakesh found a 521 in good condition and set to work. They removed all the worn gaskets and seals from the 50 year-old vehicle but kept the original L16 1.6L and four-speed transmission. Rakesh has enjoyed showing his son the workings of a classic JDM motor which doesn’t have all the modern electronics and sensors.

As part of the restoration, they upgraded the suspension with QA1 shocks and urethane bushings from Energy Suspension. Wilwood disc brakes replaced the ancient drum brake technology to arrest the truck’s rampant 96hp. The interior received some DEI Sound Control to help reduce road noise and transmitted heat, while Burberry check pattern fabric was sourced from England to reupholster the seat.

Having been in the automotive aftermarket for many years, Rakesh has been involved in many SEMA builds and is especially proud of the first with his son. But old habits are hard to break and he decided to add some Pandem fender flares a few months ago to improve the truck’s stance. The wider track allowed Rakesh to fit 15×10” front and 15×11” rear Work Crag three-piece wheels with step lips for retro JDM style. The bigger wheels also allowed wider 225/50 R15 Bridgestone RE-71RS tires to be fitted, significantly increasing the braking and cornering ability of the vehicle, making it safer for the teenager to drive.

1997 ACURA INTEGRA TYPE R

Owner Alex Alfaro purchased the rare Type R from Canada in 2014 and imported it into the US. It’s on display in the Pit & Paddock corral outside Central Hall thanks to a contest in association with ENEOS. The aim was to find a car that represented the spirit of both brands and Alex won thanks to votes from the public and judges.

Stripping the car, the body was restored by Auto Explosion in Gardena, CA before 427 Garage in Canoga Park, CA had the suspension components powder coated, securing everything with new hardware, Mugen Power bushings and mounts. They also replaced the majority of the car’s systems to ensure the Type R would have a long life.

Alex later communicated with Junichi Tanaka at JUN Auto Mechanics and agreed an engine build but sadly, Tanaka san passed away before the deposit was paid. After negotiations with Kei Tanaka, son of the founder, they built what could be the last JUN Auto B18C-R engine.

The result of Alex’s effort and attention to detail is a JDM masterpiece and an exemplary Acura Integra Type R to represent ENEOS, the Original JDM Motor Oil.
