West Coast Swing Ends with Two Top-5 Finishes
Mooresville, N.C. (April 20, 2014) — Shane Stewart and Larson Marks Racing ended the World of Outlaws six-week West Coast swing with a win at Keller Auto Speedway Friday and a top-five finish at Perris Auto Speedway. The two top-five finishes brought the team closer to the series points lead.
“The West Coast swing was really good for us,” said Stewart. “We got two wins out here to start the season and we’ve stayed right there with (Donny) Schatz in the point standings. Steve, Scotty and Andrew work so hard and I’m looking forward to many more victory lane visits with them this year.”
On Friday at Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford, Calif., Stewart qualified fifth and finished third in his heat race. He started and finished second in the dash to line up outside the front row for the 35-lap feature. Stewart dominated the event, leading all 35 laps to get the team’s second win of the season.
“It was such a really slow paced race, it’s so hard to judge how fast you need to push yourself,” Stewart said in victory lane. “It was just a really, really tricky track. These races are so hard to win and to get two wins already before we get off the west coast swing is just a true testament to this team.”
The following night, Stewart earned his second quick time of the 2015 season at Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway. He finished third in his heat race and advanced one position in the dash to finish fifth. Stewart climbed one position in the feature event to finish fourth and score the team’s ninth top-five finish of the season.
The World of Outlaws will next compete in a two-day show at Devil’s Bowl Speedway, the site of the first-ever World of Outlaws event, in Mesquite, Texas on Friday and Saturday.
