The NASCAR XFINITY Series returned to “The Last Great Coliseum”, Bristol Motor Speedway (BMS) for the second time in 2015 on Friday night. Kyle Larson was behind the wheel of the No. 42 ENEOS Chevrolet Camaro for the 300-lap race. After posting the third fastest 10-lap average in the morning’s final practice session, hopes were high that Larson could break through for his first victory at the .533-mile short track.
Larson started seventh and wasted no time driving inside the top-five, where he spent the remainder of the evening. Although he was very pleased with the handling of his car, the team made a small chassis adjustment on the final pit stop of the race with 100 laps to go.
The race saw four cautions in the final 100 laps, which allowed Larson an opportunity to make a late charge for the win. Larson restarted fourth on the lap 300 green, white, checkered restart and managed to gain two spots on the final lap, coming home second. This was Larson and HScott Motorsports with Chip Ganassi’s best finish-to-date of 2015 and his third second-place finish at BMS in five XFINITY Series starts.

HSMCG QUOTE BOARD

Kyle Larson – No. 42 ENEOS Chevrolet Camaro: – “We had an awesome ENEOS Chevrolet Camaro tonight. I am so happy to give all the guys a finish they deserve. The final restart was a challenge because the preferred groove is the outside and I was starting on the inside. Bristol has always been one of my favorite racetracks and I am very happy to give ENEOS a good finish. With three second-place finishes here at Bristol, I hope to pull out a win next time.”
